ISANA Palmati Academy is rated tops among 300 schools throughout Los Angeles County that are closing the opportunity gap for low-income African American and Latino students. The list of schools recognized in the 2020 Top Los Angeles County Public Schools report is published by Innovate Public Schools – Los Angeles (a non-profit committed to helping kids and their families access quality education), and the University of Southern California (USC).

Of the Los Angeles County schools that are eligible for the Top Schools list, Palmati scored among the leading 19th percentile for low-income Latino students by exceeding statewide average scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics.  Palmati ranks #2 as a Top Public School among Latino Middle School students in ELA and #13 in math.  Palmati’s elementary school program ranks #9 among Latino students in math and #33 among Latino students in ELA.

“I am so proud of this incredible distinction,” said Titchamroeun Son, Principal, ISANA Palmati Academy.  “Every day, our students, their families, and our committed educators and school staff work with focus and heartfelt dedication to achieve academic excellence and our shared commitment to success.  The Palmati family is so deserving of this recognition.”

“Now more than ever, we must acknowledge the schools who are closing the gap for low income students of color; this population was also hit the hardest by the coronavirus pandemic,“ said Nadia Shaiq, Chief Executive Officer, ISANA Academies.

“This has been an unusual ending to a school year, and what better way to recognize the unwavering dedication of our students, families and staff,” noted Shaiq.  “This distinction truly exemplifies how our students can excel even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances.”
