An Update to our ISANA Families from Nadia Shaiq

(Letter in English and Spanish)

Dear ISANA Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and in good health.  We are less than a month away from the end of the 2019-2020 school year and, once again, I want to THANK YOU for your partnership, resiliency, and commitment to the academic success of our students.  These past two months have forced us all to adapt to a new normal full of uncertainty and change.  I recognize the challenge, but we have all embraced this opportunity to personalize student learning and connect in different ways.  You have my deepest gratitude.

Before sharing some updates, I want to celebrate and recognize all the students in our culminating Class of 2020!  You are our future and we are so proud of you as you journey onward!  Congratulations!

Eighth Grade Culmination (Fifth Grade for ISANA Cardinal):  Staff has been working diligently to ensure our students receive the memorable culmination they deserve.  Each site will provide additional information to families about these events.

Virtual Summer Camp: From June 15th to August 14th, ISANA will be offering a FREE virtual summer camp experience to all students.  The program will feature weekly virtual field trips, classes with performing arts instructors, and academic enrichment to make sure students remain engaged during the summer. More information coming on this next week! Also be on the lookout for details regarding our i-Ready Summer Challenge.  We are committed to ensuring every student receives the support they need over the summer.

The 2020-2021 School Year Starts August 18, 2020:  As the course of the virus is still unknown, it remains unclear whether we will have either a virtual opening or an in-person start to the academic school year.  We continue to follow guidance from both the Department of Public Health and the Department of Education.  Nonetheless, we are working on plans for both scenarios and will keep our families apprised.  Please know that the health and safety of our students and staff is our priority.

ISANA Back-to-School Kickoff: Understanding that this is a very different time, two weeks before the start of the new school year, ISANA will launch a Back to School Kickoff orientation program.  From August 3rd to August 14th, families will have a personalized session where they will have an opportunity to learn systems for the new year, receive additional support, ensure they have working devices, and participate in training classes.

As we progress over the next few weeks, we will continue to keep parents and students informed via email, text, phone messages, posts on our website, and social media, such as Facebook and Instagram.

In closing, while we don’t always have control over the things that happen in our lives, we can control how we respond to them.  Thank you, students, parents, teachers, and staff, for finding new ways to learn, teach, communicate, and grow. I look forward to seeing you face to face soon, but until then, please know that we are working hard to ensure the very best for our students and our school communities.

In service,

Nadia Shaiq
